Among the 5 or 6 dolmens reported in the whole of "Haute-Savoie", one is situated in the hamlet of Saint Ange, in the Commune of Reignier. Local country folk call it "the Fairy Stone". The Fairies who often appear in Savoie legends, are said to have transported the stones on their heads ! The monument is composed of a table of Mont-Blanc granite;
4.90 metres by 4.50 metres by 1 metre thick supported by 3 bolder stones. It dates from about 2000-3000B.C; Altars for sacrificial offerings, ordinary tombs or headstones, sites of apparitions, "fairy oracles", religious meeting places, the significance of these dolmens vary depending on the differing views of scholars and of scientific studies.
But it really does not matter, "Fairy Stone" is a real curiosity!
