As long ago as 1504, one spoke of the "fruitière". The origin of the word is latin "fructus", which denotes "fruit" in the sense of a reward for work and quality of the product. It is the location where one transforms milk into cheese. This one is a cooperative, where the dairy farmers bring their twice daily milk supply which is processed into the jewel of "Savoie" cheeses -the "Reblochon".
